This year, for the first time, the Humane Society of Adams County (HSAC) of West Union attended “My Furry Valentine,” the region’s largest annual animal adoption event. The event was held on Saturday and Sunday, February 13 and 14 at the Sharonville Convention Center.

The mega-adoption event finds homes for hundreds of adoptable animals each year by bringing together animal rescues and shelters from throughout the region to showcase adoptable pets to potential pet owners at one location on the Valentine’s Day weekend. Over the past four years, the event has found homes for more than 2,000 animals.

Amanda Cantrell, Director of the Humane Society’s Shelter in West Union, and Gwen Matthews, a member of the Board of Trustees for HSAC, reporteed that by the close of the day on Saturday, the first day of the event, eight animals, (three cats and five dogs), from Adams County had already been adopted. Cantrell and Matthews, as well as several other volunteers for the Humane Society, were back in Sharonville on Valentine’s Day for another full day of animal adoptions on behalf of our community.

To help offset the cost of their travel and other expenses, please consider donating to the Humane Society of Adams County by sending a check to HSAC, P.O. Box 245, West Union, OH 45693, or visit www.adamscountyanimals.org to donate online. Thank you for your support of the Humane Society’s efforts to help local animals in need.
