Diana Owens’ new small business is now open after training through Adams Brown Community Action Partnership.
ABCAP helps Manchester woman start small business
Adams County resident Diana Owens was excited when she discovered help through Adams Brown Community Action Partnership (ABCAP) to start a small business.
Diana contacted ABCAP's Business Development Department and was enrolled into the JOLI Program, a program that helps individuals start a small business through trainings and grant funds.
While enrolled in the program Diana completed a Business Education Class that covered financing, marketing, goal setting, cash flow management, record keeping, financial statements and more, all free and all designed to help Diana understand how to start a small business. In addition, she also completed a Financial Literacy Course to provide her with a better understanding of her personal finances. In addition to the business trainings required through ABCAP Diana also attended "Type B" certification classes that allowed her to become a "Type B" Certified Day Care Provider through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Diana received training in CPR, First Aid, Health and Safety, Child Abuse, and Communicable Diseases to assist her in providing high quality care to children. Diana completed all of her trainings and received her grant funds which enabled her to purchase the essential supplies, equipment, and other necessities required to open her small business, Diana's Day Care.
Diana's Day Care is a "Type B" certified day care operated from Diana's home at 407 West Fifth Street in Manchester. Diana offers a safe and caring environment for children. She provides nutritious meals and snacks, educational toys, a special toddler room for the children to play and learn in, story time, craft projects, outdoor playtime in a secured fenced area, and a secure sleeping area. Diana's Day Care is open seven days a week and offers both a day and a midnight shift with flexible hours.
