Used to be a ball park
I have stated here in this column before and I am sure that columnists all over the sports world would agree with me in saying that the inspiration for writing comes from many different places. Last week, I got the idea for my column from a friend's Facebook post and this week, well the inspiration came from a yard sale, with a little help from Facebook.

An Athletic Director's nightmare-unpredictable spring weather

There are certain times of the year where a high school Athletic Director will literally want to "pull his hair out." Spring time may rank at the top of the list, being the time of the year that Mother nature has the most control over a school's outdoor sporting events.

Sometimes "the show must go on" and that was exactly the case last Friday night in Manchester. Just a bunch of volunteers
Feeling bored and antsy that I should be at a ball game somewhere, last Saturday afternoon I ended up over at the West Union Recreation Park. I had been invited to a Class "C" game between two West Union teams but when I arrived at the park, I found that I had hit a jackpot. Not only were the "C" teams in action, but there were two "B" games going on at the same time. I was in Knothole heaven. Now I do enjoy covering the high school athletes, but there is something comforting about getting out sometimes to watch the little fellows in action.
