Frances L. Allen Frances L. Allen, 88, of Lynx, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center near Ripley. She was born Oct. 6, 1924, near Tulip in Brush Creek Township in Adams County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Loah (Fenton) Grooms, and first husband, Hubert Saylors.
She is survived by her husband, Harold E. Allen of Lynx; two brothers, Russell Grooms of West Union and William Grooms of Maineville; a sister, Phyllis Roush of Bethel; many nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Malcolm Allen of Webster, N.Y.; and two sisters-in-law, Loveda Grooms of Springboro and Geneva Palmer of Lebanon.
She retired from the Sears Company at the Dayton Mall in Dayton and worked in the Display Department for 29 years.
She was a member of the American Legion-Ladies Auxiliary Unit 100 in West Union and was a member of the West Union Senior Citizens Club.
The funeral is Thursday, Jan. 31, at 1 p.m. at Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union. Reverend Volley Reed will officiate. The visitation is today, Jan. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. The internment is at East Liberty Cemetery in Lynx.
