Constitution Week is observed each year in the United States from Sep 17-23. This special week is proclaimed to follow the 2005 mandate to observe one day to honor the signing of the Constitution, and to emphasize the importance of protecting defending and preserving the Constitution.

To honor the event the church bells in West Union rang and the Adams County Commissioners proclaimed Sept. 21 as Constitution Day in Adams County. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the proclamation as presented by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in 1955.
