West Union High School congratulates two students, Rivers Lewis and Shania Stricklett, for being named the ninth and tenth grade winners of the 2016 Ohio River Sweep Poster Contest. The ladies’ posters were selected from a pool of approximately 1,400 posters submitted by students from a six-state area and the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission selected their posters without knowing the names, schools, or hometowns of the girls.

Rivers’s poster depicted two turtles picking up litter on the edge of the river. On the back of the turtles, each shell formed the shape of the states. Rivers completed her poster with a combination of oil pastels and water colors. Shania’s poster depicted a beautiful sunset landscape over the river with a silhouette of a man picking up litter. Shania completed her poster with colored pencils. Both young ladies will receive a $50 prepaid Visa card for their prize.

The annual Ohio River Sweep is scheduled for Saturday, June 18.
