An Adams County woman has come under investigation after she passed out while driving a borrowed car in West Union on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

The West Union Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident at 411 West Walnut Street.

Authorities suspect that Lisa Grooms, 44, of Seaman, was under the influence of drugs when she lost consciousness.

According to West Union Police Chief Roy Stricklett, Grooms was traveling west on Walnut Street when the 2004 Dodge Stratus she was operating careened off the roadway and crashed into the porch of a two-story brick house. The house is the residence of Kenneth Smith, play-by-play sports broadcaster and sales representative for C103 Radio in West Union.

“The porch was completely destroyed by the collision,” Stricklett said.

Grooms was transported to the Adams County Regional Medical Center by the West Union Life Squad.

She was charged with not having physical control of the vehicle and driving while under suspension.
