An Adams County woman and two children escaped serious injury in an automobile accident during last week’s winter storm.

First responders were called to the scene of the accident on Corboy Road, near Route 136 at approximately 1:28 p.m. on Friday, Jan.22.

Karin Schnill, 59, of Winchester and two passengers, ages 4 and 9, of Cincinnati, were traveling northbound on Corboy Road in a 2oo2 Chevrolet Silverado.

According to Ohio State Patrol Trooper Kyle Koontz, Schnill failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to travel off the roadway before striking an embankment and rolling over.

Schnill and both minor passengers were transported by the Winchester Life Squad to the Adams County Regional Medical Center in Seaman.

Schnill was charged with failure to control.

Winter road conditions were also considered a contributing factor in a second accident earlier the same day.

Edward Alexander Gray Samoya, 19, of West Union, escaped injury after losing control of his 1988 Honda Civic. State Highway Patrolman Donnie Edgington, responded to the accident site on Route 136 at approximately 12:45 p.m.

According to Edgington, Samoya struck an embankment off the right side of the highway after failing to make a curve under icy road conditions. He was charged with failure to control.
