Winter weather conditions were contributing factors in three separate motor vehicle accidents last weekend.

An Aberdeen man sustained a broken ankle after losing control of his car on an icy patch of roadway.

First responders were called to the scene of an accident in Huntington Township in Brown County on Friday evening, Feb. 12 at approximately 5 p.m.

According to Trooper Joshua Greer of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Sebastian Daulton, 22, of Aberdeen was traveling north bound on St.Rt. 41 in a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer when he lost control of his SUV, crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle.

The second vehicle, a red 2003 Ford Explorer was driven by Shanna Smith, 42, of Manchester. Both Daulton and Smith were transported to Meadowview Hospital in Maysville by the Ripley Life Squad.

Emergency personnel responded to a second accident at 9:11 p.m. the same day.

According to State Highway Patrolman Kyle Kluntz, no serious injuries resulted from a weather-related, single-car accident on St. Rt. 41 near Peebles. The driver, a 17-year old minor from the Peebles area, was traveling south bound on a snow covered roadway when he lost control of his 1999 Ford Escort. The car traveled off the left side of the road, and struck a utility pole.

Two passengers, Dakota Smith, 19, of Peebles, and Austin Smith, 19, of Peebles were unhurt.

Emergency crews responded to a third weather-related accident on Sunday, Feb. 14 at approximately 5 p.m.

Helen Meade, 60, of Peebles escaped injury after losing control of the white 2002 Buick Regal she was operating. Meade was traveling eastbound on snow-covered Mineral Springs Road in Peebles when she hit an icy spot.

According to Trooper Joshua Greer, the Buick traveled off the right side of the road striking a fence and a utility pole. Meade was cited for operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed in unsafe conditions.
