The West Union Village council met in regular session at 7 p.m. on July 28at the Municipal Building, with Mayor Ted Grooms presiding. Call to order, pledge to the flag and roll call, John Lafferty – present, Mark Brewer – present, Benny McCarty – present, Jason Buda – present, Randy Brewer – present, Steve Rothwell – present: Tanya Johnson – Clerk, Shelley Gifford – Treasurer, Jerry Kirker – Village Administrator/Fire Chief, Roy Stricklett – Police Chief, Lisa Rothwell – Solicitor.

A motion was made by Benny McCarty to approve the minutes of the regular meeting from July 14, 2015 as distributed, was seconded by Mark Brewerand in roll call vote, all yea, motion passed.

A motion by Randy Brewer to approve payment of bills was submitted and seconded by Steve Rothwell and the roll call vote was all yea, motion passed.

Resolution 2015-9 named the West Union Village appointment to the District 15 Public Works Integrating Committee. The Mayor requested council to accept his nomination of Jerry Kirker to this committee. The motion by Randy Brewer was seconded by Steve Rothwell with the roll call vote being all yea, resolution passed.

The Clerk spoke to council about putting Ohio Checkbook on the Village’s website and Council agreed.

The Mayor informed council on a few properties that have been mowed and cleaned up and vehicles that have been moved, as well as a number of dates and times that a few residents needed to comply by. Also, the Mayor told council of three properties in the village that have been taken down or are in the process of being taken down, South Street, Mulberry Street and Mound Street.

A Zoning Ordinance was discussed by all with no action being taken.

Jerry Kirker, Village Administrator/Fire Chief, informed council that the painting of the water tower will be finished on Friday and sterilization of the inside of the tower will be in about two and a half weeks. No date has been set for taking down the old water tower.

Roy Stricklett, Police Chief told council that the BAC Data Master machine was working great.

Council members discussed the possibility of putting a Dragon logo on the water tower. Kirker informed council there was a two-year warranty on the painting of the water tower and no action was taken.

The Clerk discussed the budget with Council. The Village Administrator will see the Clerk on these matters, and will bring it back to council by the next meeting.

The Mayor informed council that the new employee, Patty Foote, would need health insurance. A motion by Benny McCarty was seconded by Steve Rothwell. In a roll call vote, all yea, motion passed.

A motion was presented by Benny McCarty to adjourn, seconded by Steve Rothwelland in the roll call vote, all yea, meeting adjourned.
