At 5:45 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, three vehicles collided at the intersection of State Route 32 and Steam Furnace Road.

Ohio State Highway Patrol closed both lanes of traffic as first responders, including Peebles Fire Department, Adams County EMS, Wayne Township Life Squad, and West Union Life Squad, extracted the victims from their vehicles and began care. Air Evac and Medflight landed one helicopter each to transport two victims away from the scene of the accident.

Traffic in the westbound lane was allowed to resume at approximately 7:00 p.m. with eastbound traffic being delayed until the vehicles had been removed from the scene of the accident.
