Mearyl D. Shoemaker, 86 years of Peebles, passed away on Monday November 2, 2015 at the Heartland of Hillsboro. He was born in Peebles on November 8, 1929, the son of the late James M. and Anna E. (Wylie) Shoemaker, besides his parents he was also preceded by three brothers, Harvey, Otho, and Raymond Shoemaker and three sisters, Inis Cluff, Dorothy Newkirk and Faye Hottinger. Mearyl retired, after 23 years, from Copeland Corporation, served in the U.S. Army, attended the Sinking Spring Community Church and enjoyed fishing. Mearyl is survived by his wife Joy Shoemaker, whom were married on June 12, 1953, son, Timothy G. (Linda) Shoemaker of Peebles, two daughters, Charity A. (Monti) Mallow of Ripley and Susan E. (Dale) Humphreys of Sinking Spring, sister, Wanda P. Short of Sinking Spring, nine grandchildren: Kimberly Purtee Knauff, Chuck Purtee, Bryan Humphreys, Elizabeth Haggerty, Angela Hardyman, Jeremy Mallow, Sarah Lisbowa, Valerie Kennedy and Alison Devine , nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday November 6, 2015 at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home with Greg Seaman officiating. Burial will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
