Peebles High School recently held its 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, with a trio of former Indians earning their spots on the wall outside the school gymnasium..This year’s class included Angie Shiveley Lloyd, Jeff “Whitey” Daulton, and Judd Johnson.
Angie Shiveley was a 1990 graduate of Peebles High School and a three-year starter in both softball and basketball, totaling 977 points in her basketball career. She was a prolific outside shooter and held records for three-point goals in a career with 176 and in a game with eight, marks that stood until 2017. She still holds the record for most three-point goals in a season with 78 and made more than five treys in a game on 12 different occasions. Angie ranks second in career free throw percentage, scored in double figures 48 times, and had a career high of 31 against Huntington Ross in her senior season.
Angie was an All-League selection in softball as a junior and in basketball her junior and senior years. She was a member of two regional basketball teams in 1987 and 1988 and was a District 14 All-Star her senior year. Her plaque was presented by her high school coach and HOF Committee member Tom Newman.
Jeff “Whitey” Daulton was a 1985 graduate of PHS and a two-sport star in track and basketball. In track, he set a school record in the 100 Meters of 11.2 seconds that still stands today and still owns the school long jump record of 21 feet, 7 inches. He was a District Champion twice and won the Long Jump four consecutive seasons in the SHL Meet. Jeff was an All-League track selection four times, one of only six Indians to accomplish this and the only male.
In basketball, Jeff was a three-year varsity starter and scored 811 points. His Peebles teams won three SHL titles including a Gold Ball in 1984, one Tri-County title, three sectional titles, and a district title in 1984. When he graduated, Jeff was second on the school’s career rebounding list and held the school record for steals. “Whitey” was named All-SHL twice and is one of three men in school history to lead his team in rebounding in their junior and senior seasons.
Jeff’s Hall of Fame plaque was presented by HOF Committee member and former teammate, David Stephens.
The final inductee was 1984 Peebles graduate, Judd Johnson. A two-sport star at Peebles, Judd excelled on the basketball court and the baseball diamond. He was a two-year basketball starter and an All-SHL selection in 1984 and All Tri-County in 1983 and 1984. He helped lead the Indians to a Tri-County title and two SHL titles including the 1984 Gold Ball. He was named Special Mention All-Ohio for his senior season.
On the mound, Judd had a career record of 21-4 , was named All-League twice, and was a four-year varsity starter. In his senior campaign, Judd went 7-0 with an 0.95 earned run average and hit .520 to lead the Indians to the regional finals. Judd and his son Brady are one of only two father-son combinations to play in the regionals for Peebles.
Johnson went on to play baseball at Wilmington College and Cincinnati before being signed by the Atlanta Braves, where he spent seven years in their organization, reaching the AAA level for five consecutive seasons.
Johnson’s Hall of Fame plaque was presented by his son, Brady and Brock Johnson.
